My Favorite Gear

Garmin Forerunner 965 - My watch and one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. There is a lot to love, but a few highlights are the long battery life, large bright screen, ability to download Spotify playlists, 32 GB of storage, customizable data screens, detailed training metrics, navigation, and sleep tracking.

Garmin Forerunner 265s - A slightly smaller alternative to my watch. Still amazing, this was my second choice.

Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 - These headphones are great for listening to music, a podcast, or audiobook while still being able to hear your surroundings. They are also fully waterproof which is great for running in the rain or summer humidity. I have the original OpenRun Pro in the mini version, but they’ve been replaced by version 2.

Nathan Exo Shot 18 oz - Handheld water bottle. This bottle is my go-to when I want to carry water on my run but don’t want to wear my vest. It frequently goes on sale so I wouldn’t buy it full price.

Salomon hydration vest - Active Skin 8. My favorite hydration vest with room for a 1.5 L bladder and two 500 mL soft flasks.

Hydrapak 1.5 L bladder - The bladder I use in my vest. It’s insulated, so as long as I fill it with a lot of ice it stays cold for a suprisingly long time on hot runs.

Nathan hydration vest - While I love my Salomon vest (above), this was my first vest and it’s a great more affordable option. It frequently goes on sale.

Roka Oslo 2 Sunglasses - These are my favorite glasses for running. They stay in place and don’t fog up.

Goodr Sunglasses - These are my second favorite sunglasses for running, at a much more affordable price point. Goodr has tons of fun styles and colors and they’re all polarized.

Trigger Point foam roller - My favorite foam roller. This thing is a lifesaver to use before and after runs.

Trigger Point massage ball - Great for rolling out the feet.

Feetures Elite Light Cushion Quarter Crew Sock - my favorites socks for running. They frequently go on sale or have discount codes floating around, so I wouldn’t buy at full price.

Hydration and Nutrition

LMNT Electrolytes - My preferred electrolyte drink. My favorite flavors are grapefruit and citrus salt.

Nuun Sport electrolyte tablets - Another good electrolyte with less sodium if you don’t want quite as much as LMNT.

Salt Stick Capsules - An alternative source of electrolytes for long runs and races. I use these in races when I’ll be relying on on-course water and don’t want to carry my own bottle of drink mix.

Maurten Gel 100 - My favorite gels for long runs and races.

Maurten Gel CAF 100 - A caffeinated version, which I mix in with the non-caffeinated ones.

Huma Gels - Fruit-flavored gels that I’ll use in training to mix it up.

Maurten Solid - A nice high carb pre-long run and pre-race fuel with simple ingredients that sits well in my stomach.

Tailwind Chocolate Recovery Drink - This drink mix has the ideal ratio of carbs, protein, and electrolytes to support recovery after a run. It’s also vegan and delicous.

Tailwind Endurance Fuel - An all-in-one drink mix that’s high in both carbs and electrolytes, which is great for your long runs or rides.
